Dress code: summer invites
Outfits for every summer occasion you’ve got lined up.
FOR ALL THE EVENTS YOU’VE GOT GOING ON THIS SUMMER
When the sun comes out, the invites start rolling in. From weddings and rooftop parties, to barbecues and picnics in the park, warmer weather always equals a good time. If your calendar is slowly filling up with events this season, it’s time to think about what you’re going to wear. See below for a few options on how to stay sharp this summer, wherever you’re headed.
Garden party
Garden parties are the perfect chance to get out your smart-casual summer gear. You want to look good, but also have enough room in your outfit to feel comfortable in the outdoors. Go for a knitted t-shirt in a neutral tone, crafted from the finest merino wool, as a base layer and build a tonal look from there.
Seersucker is a great fabric for the warmer months – it’s breathable, lightweight, and has a puckered texture which adds an extra layer of interest. A shacket and shorts set like our ecru seersucker is a great option for a garden event. You’ll look put together, and can always remove the jacket if it gets a bit too warm.
Formal sports event
Summer is a time for sports, and what better way to showcase your support than with a suit worthy of the track/field/court? If you’ve got your hands on a ticket with a dress code, a single breasted suit in a warm tone like sage or dusty pink is a great way to make a subtle statement. Pair it with a tailored fit shirt and finish off with a patterned tie to offset the suit – our take is by Italian tie specialists Bottinelli. Make sure you polish your shoes so they’re extra shiny.
Black tie summer ball
Sometimes, the occasion simply calls for a classic tuxedo. If you’re heading to a ball this summer, make sure you’ve got a suit worthy of showing off – an Italian tux, made from fabric expertly crafted by Italy’s oldest mill Barberis, will get the job done nicely. Made from wool and mohair in a tailored fit, the suit will do all the work for you – all you need is a crisp white dress shirt, a silk bow tie and high-shine dress shoes, and you’ll be turning heads for all the right reasons.
